I am new to character animation and to learn it I have taken a simple Lego Model and tried to add a rig to animate it.

As soon as I try to bind the model and all the joints (not selecting the Root-Null-Object) it just won't work out. Still no movable parts and looking at the weight tag I can see that the actual model is not in the list of the joints. But in all the tutorials I could see that the joints were always childs of the Object to be rigged in the weight tag joints window.

Please tell me if I am doing something terribly wrong!
I will upload the file so you can try out by yourselves.

Thanks in advance,

P.S.: I have no idea how the file uploading here works so I will just simply add the link here.

The joints are weighted and it's generally set up okay. The automatic weighting isn't perfect, however, especially with a thick model like this. You'll have to manually adjust the weights to get a good result.
