We all know that you can create points from an OBJ model using Plexus in After Effects right? But what if you just wanted the Plexus effect to cover a sphere so it looks like the mainland of the Earth?

I just thought about creating a sphere in C4D with loads of segments, making it editable, applying a texture map of the mainland and deleting all of the verts that are in the sea - that sounds like a long process and I'm sure somebody out there has an easier solution.

Any suggestions?

import a vector as a path, extrude with regular grid creating the vertex density you need, delete sides + back then apply a sphere modifier.
