Sphere modeling/geometry question
on Oct 30, 2014 at 6:22:25 pm

Hi,

I have been trying to model a sphere with a similar geometry to the image in the link below. I was hoping to build the object and then extrude/bevel the polygons to achieve the effect. I haven't had much luck. Anyone have ideas on how a sphere with this pattern could be created?

Thanks a lot in advance.

it's a lot easier to do it as a material with displacement than as geometry but it's doable that way too.

I can post a screen capture of one process that might work tomorrow

I did think about a material but really need the geometry in order to print later. I would really appreciate your technique if you could share it. Thanks!

I don't know if it's the best way but this works and isn't too bad if only a portion of the sphere is used then replicated in a cloner.

This is great! I was going down the wrong path with trying to wrap around a sphere. Thanks a lot for your help!
