I need to depict an animated electronic signal of a device, with waves that move away in concentric arcs, that become transparent when move away.
Any suggestions on what would be a pragmatic way to do this? Making a polygon and animating a texture somehow? Or animating an array of 3D arcs - somehow?
My problem is the word "somehow" :-)

the fading texture is easy - just use a 3D-spherical gradient in the Alpha of a texture attached to all the 'waves'. With Mograph the waves are easy too you just need the first wave and the last wave objects and then use Blend as the Clones mode.
