As stated, I am making a coat of arms, while most of the objects are pretty basic, there is some scrolling leaves that go down either side of the shield. What I'm attempting is something along the lines of this:

I would be very appreciative for any help.

I am using C4D lite.

Thanks.

are the leaves going to be flat (though 3D) or overtly 3D?

They are going to be overtly 3D.

depending on how 'curly' you are looking for it could be a couple of layers of extruded splines possibly bent with deformers, maybe made editable with caps as 'regular grid' so you could shape them with the magnet or a soft selection later. Or all the way to fully hand modelled.
