There is a sign at the entrance of the church I attend that I would like to replicate using Cinema 4D. The sign has 2 columns on either end that are composed of multicolored rocks. I have attached an image that shows the rocks.
My question is: How would you model the rocks and the column(s)in 3D? I am a relative newbie, but can most likely figure out the specifics of any suggestions that are given. And how about the texturing?
Correct the perspective of the image using photoshop so that it is a 'straight-on' image, you want this to appear to be orthographic (straight on). (By doing this you also just made yourself a texture) Trace each brick with a spline, (bezier or b-spline) Extrude splines. Add bevel to the created bricks, add a noise modifier if you wish for it to be a little more imperfect.
