I am trying to create a brick wall using an brick image with bump and displacement, in order to have depth in the rendered image.
I am successful if I map the image onto a plane, the results show the depth that I am trying to acheive.
But if I map the image onto a primative, such as the face of a cube, using the same procedure as I did for the plane, I only get a flat wall, which if seen from a distance is fine, but up close it looks like what it is, an image map.
Is there a way I can get the same effect on a cube face as I did on the plane?
Thank you for your help.

Alex.

you have to have more polys to displace, the default Plane is 20 by 20 so has 400 polys and the default Cube is 1x1 so each face is 1 poly and can't really be displaced other than straight in or straight out (along the Normal). Try Sub-Polygon displacement or, if you don't have that choice, just subdivide the cube a lot (and the plane)

Ahh, thank you, increasing the poly count and sub polygon displacement work perfectly.
Now I just have to experiment to find the best parameters.

Regards, Alex.
