So, I would like to achieve something like this without using subsurface scattering:

It looks like crysis and unreal engine can do it by lighting both sides of the surface. Any recommendations for accomplishing this using c4d? Maybe there is a way to drive illumination based on what is actively lit on the other side? Thanks in advance!

there is a channel shader called Backlight that is for this kind of thing - usually put into Luminance
