how to re-adjust multiple character mesh without re-binding and re-paint weight again

I have a character, I've already bind and paint weight into it,
my client says they want to see alternate character with lot of variation body length, i.e longer body, shorter hands, etc...
So basically my question is there any way to adjust the character and re-position the bone without unbind and rebind mesh and do some paint weight again per character? (I mean make one master character, duplicate the character and do some alternate body)
