I have a cube chopped up into fragments (blue image). I want the fragments to sort of bulge out as if something is erupting. I threw all my fragments into a fracture object and then experimented with the target effector and the 'repel' option. I get pretty close, but I can't get the fragments to orient properly. I want the fragments to orient outward from the bulge, but can't find any configuration of options in the target effector that will do this. The image of the orange cubes shows the sort of effect i'm going for.

A genius named Yader has produced a tutorial that addresses this exact issue here:

Because your object is oriented differently you would have to change it up in some respects.

As Yader suggests in his text comment on the Vimeo page, you could also do this with dynamics, but you'd have to animate it to see the result in that case.

Well I guess if I really want this effect I know it's possible. Thanks Adam. You guys always seem to have an answer for anything.
