Query on a showreel style (sorry I can't be more specific!)

Hi - just wondering (presuming this was done with c4d) how the clip 7-9 secs. was created:

Is there a mask being used on a full mountain or is it a displacement map with a snowy mountain material being applied to an angled set of planes ?

It appears to be geometrically created- I believe a displacement map would only affect the normals, and you wouldn't be able to see it from the flipside (there's only a small segment you can see at the beginning on the left that show's the underside of the topography).

It looks like that could be accomplished with the Landscape geometry and then by using a boolean object you can crop it.

it's probably sub-poly displacement on a plane (with bits missing)
