Hi cow folks.

Ive got a problem with objects not resting properly on the 'ground'.

(I am using the latest iPod commercial 'bounce' as inspiration here)

I have a simple scene with a modelled cell phone (connected and converted to a single object) on a floor. The phone has a rigid body tag and the floor has a collider tag.

I am using a cylinder to 'poke' the phone from the floor to make it bounce. The problem I have is that the phone isn't resting on the floor properly once it falls down. I have made sure the cylinder is well out of the way when the phone falls, but it stops before the floor as though it is resting on another object. But there is nothing in its way.

Does anyone have any suggestions as to why it won't rest properly on the floor?

I am on C4D R13 studio on 2011 macbook pro, Lion, 8gb ram, etc.

Thanks in advance.
Andrew.

[andrew donaldson] "Does anyone have any suggestions as to why it won't rest properly on the floor?"

What 'Shape' are you using for the phone? Is your Size Increment set to 0?

in Project/Dynamics/Expert the default setting for Collision Margin is 1cm you can take that down to zero (or close)though if you are getting penetration of the floor you would have to increase the Steps per Frame/Iterations

While I wouldn't rule out Collision Margin as a possible culprit, I wouldn't start there either. Collision Margin doesn't usually affect objects in such a dramatic way.

depending on the scale and camera angle

Hey, thanks for your replies.

I think it might have been a bug, because a renamed the project and moved a few things around and its been fine since.

If it happens again I'll post back and will look into your suggestions.

Thanks again.
Andrew.
