Creating a crater in cinema 4d?
on Sep 10, 2012 at 11:18:52 pm

For my scene I want to have a plane crash into the ground and leave a crater. I am having trouble though with creating a 3d crater in the ground. I just need to know that basics. Also if there is any way to use an image or something to create the depth of the crater and the shape of it. Thanks.

There are a number of ways you could do it (as usual):

1. Use a collision deformer on the ground plane

2. Use texture displacement -- could use an animated grayscale file for more control, or animate the displacement depth;

3. Use point-level animation on the ground plane.

Ok and will texture displacements work on a plane? And how would i go about it making it look like the crater is in the road, instead of a plane with crater on top of the road?
