I'm creating a soccer ball that has the flags of the participant countries individually on each face along, I created png files, all sized exactly the same in Photoshop and I've been adding each flag to its according position, however, there's a couple of faces that instead of projecting it as it should are "re-splitting" the face again in 5 different portions that meet at the center, so the image gets repeated as if it was a kaleidoscope.

I'm using UVW mapping and tried all the different modes, for some reason those polygons aren't accepting the proper projection.

Please attached screenshots.

Can anyone point me in the right direction? I'm at a total lost.

No way to say without seeing the object.

There you go,

4238_soccerball.c4d.zip

I stripped the ball the scene of the rest of the elements so it would upload/download fast. You will see that the croatian and italian flags which are exactly opposite of each other (I'm guessing the poles of the sphere) are the ones giving me trouble.

Scale won't match because I eventually found a way to make them work out changing the projection to spherical and scaling them way down so I turned them into uvw mapping again to send you this file.

Thanks for your help!

Okay, the problem is that some of your UVs are messed up. Here I highlighted one of the wonky sections:

On the left is the editor view and on the right is the UVW view. You can straighten the UVs out with the BodyPaint "Optimal mapping" command (among others). Of course then you would have to adjust the placement of the texmap to fit the mapping.

Thanks adam, this is very helpful.

I first need to find out if I have BodyPaint installed, back on R11 it was included with C4D, but I'm not sure if that's the case with R13.

Can I access this UVW view from within C4D?

Thanks again.

Yes, BP is integrated with C4D now. You can just choose the default BP UVW layout to get access to the functions you need.
