Cinema 4d Hair distortion problem on animated object [PICTURES]

Hi there,

I am making a tough hairy monster truck in C4D with Hair and I need help on a problem I'm having. Basically I have weird distorted hairs shooting out at seemingly random places:

The tires and car are both animated bouncing up and down. The hair dynamics are set to a length of 40 cm and a count of 100 000. At first I thought it could have something to do w/ frizz or other hair attributes but I tried to no avail.

Besides this I'm also getting similar weird distortions when using Hair on dynamic objects that collide with a plane:

The lower left side of the cube is hitting the plane where the hair distorts.

Any idea how I could fix this? Help is much appreciated!

Hi Quentin,

I am also having the same problem as you!

Did you ever find a solution to it? I'm very close to ripping out my own hair!

Cheers,

Ploy

Hi Ploy,

I'm sorry I can't help you, I never really fixed it in C4D. The only thing i remember is that being more efficient with the hair count (keeping it as low as possible) helped to some extent.

Good luck!

Quentin

weird hairs can come from extra geometry (polys occupying the same space etc), it can also make a big difference to choose a rooting scheme (Hair Object/Guides/Roots/Root) that's better for the shape - in the case of sharp edged cubes I would change from the default Polygon Vertex to Polygon Area (at least to try it out)

Hi!

I'm having the same problem right now. I checked for double polygons - there are none. I also tried the different Rooting Options, to no avail, the hairs are still sticking out.... I also played around with Steps and Iterations in the Dynamics-Advanced Tab. Didn't solve the problem either.....I'm running out of possible solutions :(

Does anyone have other ideas as to how I could fix this?
