Shadow Pass Problem for Tree

Hello,
Longtime reader of CreativeCow's forums, but I never thought to join until now. I'm sort of a novice at Cinema 4D's multi-pass system but I've been seeking info on this problem left and right: I'm trying to make a camera animation of a diorama with these Hemlock trees from a DOSCH trees and conifers package and I can't seem to get the shadow pass to match the shadows I see from the rgba pass (and it's a pretty big difference).
To clarify, I've uploaded a 9mb zip file setup of an individual tree with a light set to soft shadows. I have shadow correction on just in case.
I just don't know what I could be doing wrong.

I don't know if it's a bug or a technical limitation, but it seems that the problem is caused by the soft alpha setting in the foliage materials. If you uncheck soft alpha and invert, the shadow pass renders correctly. Unfortunately that also gives a harsh edge to the leaves.

Thank you Adam,
Incredible! I'm absolutely astounded really. I sort of trusted the soft setting because it was default and it smoothed out the edges of the texture nicely... As for the harsh edges now, I'll try some different sampling for the texture, or just upping the ante on the anti-aliasing in the render settings.

Update:
Problem is solved but leaves are still pretty pixelated. Fortunately, the trees are gonna be far away from the camera. Tweaking the Delta gets the alpha just where I want it though, then I set the anti-aliasing for Animation and things seem to look satisfactory. Going to have to suit for satisfactory... but its all good. I'd love to post this when finished :)

Great -- would love to see the result.

I've reported the premultiplied issue to Maxon, so if it's a bug and not simply a limitation of premultiplied alphas it will hopefully be addressed.
