Hi folks,

I've just recently downloaded a trial of Cinema4D to play and see what it can do.

I'm trying to get some extruded NURB objects to reflect a texture that I've selected for a material which is applied to a 'Sky'. I've set up the material with the HDR texture, applied it to Sky, and then created another material with 'Reflection' and 'Environment' brightness set at 35%. However, my lettering is pure white (as per the 'Colour' setting), with shadows from 2 lights I've configured.

How can I get the lettering to reflect the sky?

I've attached a screenshot of my C4D workspace for reference.

Many thanks,

Paul

If you've applied the HDR texture to the sky object and the reflective material to the text, you should see the reflection in the text.

The environment channel provides reflections of a fake sky, so there's no reason to use it if you have a sky object in the scene. Generally you would use one or the other but not both.

I couldn't download your render so this is a blind response....

Hi Adam,

Thanks for your reply!

I think I've configured it as you say. When I go to 'Render', the sky disappears, however in the standard viewport there's still no reflection.

I've uploaded a shot of my workspace to my own site, see : Screenshot.

Cheers,

Paul

You mean the sky doesn't show up at all in the render, or you just can't see it being reflected? Any chance you can post your file?

The sky doesn't show up - I've uploaded the file here

Looks like there must be something corrupted in the file. The sky didn't render here, either, but I created a new sky object and deleted the old one and the new one rendered fine.
