adding bevel to simple extruded text

Hi
I know this is a newbie question but trying to simply add a bevel to extruded text.
I would think this is more useful than the endless number of 'fillet' options.

Another problem is that the texture I apply to extruded text only seems to be applied to the sides of the text, not the actual text caps or front-rear faces.

Can anyone help?

This tutorial should help you out with the texture only being applied to the sides:

I've always used fillet to bevel the text, so I haven't really looked into other options there.
