Cloning Objects with hair on them

Hey guys, I was wondering if it was possible to clone an object that has hair on it. I just want to do it to a simple sphere shape but the hair seems to disappear once i clone the object. Also, how would i get hair to grow from the front of a flat surface such as text? Rather than just the edges around. Thanks a ton.

Put your Cloner in a Connect object and Add Hair on that rather than trying to clone the hair.

Didn't work, it created a single cube with hair on it. But none of the cloned objects had the hair

don't try to add the hair before you clone.

1. put the cube in the cloner
2. put the cloner in a Connect object
3. add hair to the Connect object - not the cube -

another challenge a bit further on this topic...

I followed Brian's instructions successfully, but in this case, my model needs something else beyond that :/

I'm building a strawberry close-up, where tiny individual "hairs" should grow from each seed.

I've tried several Root options for the hair, including "UV grid", where I have UV spacing and variation options, with no success.

The hair seem to spread irregularly among the seeds; some have none, some have a more than one hair; and I wish I also was able to grow them only form the top of the seed.

Ideally, I would like to use hair to randomize it, instead of modelling it in the master seed.

Any ideas?

Thanks!

You could try to use a Matrix, clone the matrix in object Vertex
Or
Use a Spline, clone the spline on the object using vertex, so you will get only one splie per vertex and add hair material to this.

Good Luck

Imagination is the best tool...

Hi Emir,

Thanks for your suggestion, which works indeed.

I've also been advised another way to achieve it. It's as simple as using the vertex selection (from the strawberry which the seed cloner uses), directly as link in the hair.

Thanks for your help!
