Shaders and MAterials together?

Hi - I'm a C4D newbie and I'm wondering if there's a way to composite materials on top of shaders... if that makes any sense. I'm trying to use a material to put some text on a surface that's using a very reflective, metalic looking shader (like racing stripes painted on a car)... it seems like it can be done, am I wrong?

Yes. You can put as many textures on an object as you want. They show up as Texture Tags in the Object Manager. The left one is the bottom texture, the ones to the right (if there are more than one) are above it. Tops ones will block out the lower ones unless the top textures have an alpha channel or the textures are mixed.

Check out the help files under Reference/Object Manager/Tags Menu/Cinema4D tags/Texture Tag/Tag Properties look for Texture Layering and/or Mix Textures.

I know its too late to post a reply to this thread.

I am also a newbie.

I have a doubt, if i use a danel material as the topmost layer, how can we use alpha along with it? i cudnt see any alpha option in the danel shader....

thanks in advance
