News: Announcing: The Southeast Creative Summit 2014 / Atlanta Creative Ball 2014! November 7-9, 2014; Atlanta, Georgia Westin Peachtree Plaza Hotel!
(Atlanta, Georgia--July 31, 2014) The Southeast Creative Summit is returning to Atlanta after a successful inaugural year! In our first year, we had over 100 attendees from 12 states attend nearly 80 workshops over three days. This year we have even more talent on the schedule, including Academy Award winning sound mixer Ed Novick (The Dark Knight, Inception), Emmy Award winning editor Jesse Averna (Sesame Street), editor Zack Arnold (Burn Notice, Glee), and many more notable experts in the production and post- production world.
Atlanta Cutters is a 501©(6) Non-Profit Organization, and we developed this unique educational opportunity to give back to the community and we’ve reduced the conference costs this year to allow more attendees to come to Atlanta. Our craft-based approach to workshops focuses on the creativity and techniques over the tools, and we feel this sets us apart from most conferences available. Attendees can learn concepts and ideas that can be applied to any camera or non-linear editing system and talk in terms of creative choices rather than brand loyalty. Scott Simmons: Editorial & Workflow
If you can name it, Scott has probably cut it. He has worked on projects from artists including Kenny Rogers, Kenny Chesney, Ronnie Milsap, Rodney Atkins, Mercy Me and Rhonda Vincent to name a few. Robbie Carmen: Colorist, Trainer
My day gig is as a professional television and film colorist, but I moonlight as an author and trainer. I'm a co-owner of Amigo Media LLC with my business partner Jason Osder. I've been the senior colorist for hundreds of national broadcast shows, multi-national corporate presentations, .long form documentaries and features and I've been lucky enough to have been awarded for many of the projects I've contributed too. All my company does is color grading and this singular focus has allowed me to grade on average 150 hours of graded content every year. @robbiecarman
Ed Novick: Production Sound Mixer
Ed Novick is a production sound mixer with over 30 years experience mixing for documentaries, commercials, and feature films. Ed’s credit list is extensive, and he has worked with some of the best and most demanding directors in the industry. He has been nominated for 4 Academy Awards, and took home the Oscar for his work on “Inception”. He is dedicated to the art of storytelling through his craft. I like to call myself a Photon Wrangler. By day, I run Fini.tv – a boutique color grading & finishing shop. I’ve been running that business since 2002 and been working in NYC post-production since 1989. I’m also teaching Digital Color Correction as an Adjunct Professor at my Alma Mater, Hofstra University. Jesse Averna: Editorial, Social Media, Directing.
Jesse Averna’s work has taken him to the legendary Kaufman Studios in NYC to the Italian Alps and the heart of Uganda, and nearly everywhere between. Averna is a director, postproduction professional, assistant editor and Emmy Award-winning editor for television and feature films, with clients such as The Walt Disney Company, MTV, Tony Awards, American Movie C!lassics, TED, Music Choice and international nonprofits. Marco Solorio has been in the media production business since 1991 including the ownership of OneRiver Media. He's a published writer from the likes of DV Magazine, Videography Magazine to countless online website reviews and articles. He's also appeared on tutorial DVDs instructing in the advanced practices of After Effects techniques. He's also a long-time forum host at CreativeCow.net. He's presented at NAB (National Association of Broadcasters), user group events and at educational facilities. Marco is also recognized for his creation of the OneRiver Media Codec Resource Site, which compares the use of professional codecs in the production environment. Throughout all of this, Marco has consulted for many high-level companies, including Apple and Pixar. Mary Poplin: VFX Artist
Mary Poplin is Product Specialist for Imagineer Systems, the innovators of mocha planar tracking and visual effects tools. An experienced visual effects and motion graphics artist, Mary has worked on major Hollywood feature films such as The Last Airbender, Gullivers Travels, and Jackass 3D. As Imagineer Systems’ west coast product specialist, Mary consults with film studios and customers to provide hands on training to help evangelize the power of mocha and planar tracking. Since transplanting to Los Angeles in 2005, Mary Poplin has been a stereoscopic artist, compositor, matte painter, cleanplate artist, illustrator, and proficient rotopaint artist. Monica Daniel: Editor, Social Media
Monica is an Editor and Colorist based in Los Angeles. She has worked for several networks including SyFy, Starz, BBC America, E!, G4 and A&E Bio, to name a few. In addition to Television, she has also worked on independent features that have been released by Miramax, Lionsgate and Anchor Bay Entertainment. She is also currently working on Scripted Projects for That Studio. Zack Arnold: Editor, Fitness in Post founder
As a professional editor for fifteen years, Zack has come to realize that editing isn’t his job, it’s his identity. He considers himself genre- agnostic, allowing whatever project he’s on to consume him for the sake of the story: it just flows. His recent work has been on Burn Notice, Glee, and The Black Box. In addition to editing, Zack recently finished directing and producing the documentary film Go Far: The Christopher Rush Story. He is the creator of Fitness in Post and often competes in Tough Mudders and Spartan Races. In his rare free time, he teaches at the University of California in the School of Cinematic Arts program. Kylee Wall discovered the art of editing at 14 when she hit her friend with a car — through the magic of editing.
After she finished her degree in media production at Indiana University, Kylee found herself in the hot and dirty environment of industrial corporate video production by day and began editing local independent film by night. Jumping between the worlds of corporate and narrative on a daily basis has led Kylee to working on nearly every type of video you’ve thought of, and maybe some you haven’t.
Kylee is a frequent tweeter and blogger, a contributing editor for Creative COW and co-host of the podcast The Track Matte Moment, a post confessional about making mistakes and the lessons you learn from them.
