3DS MAX 2010 - Lens Effect Glow on one side of a closed spline

3DS MAX 2010 - Lens Effect Glow on one side of a closed spline

I’m in the middle of a big project at work and after hours of searching help files, forums and Autodesk’s web site and am still stuck. I created a closed spline and am attempting to add a video post lens effects Glow effect to it. Creating the glow is no problem, however, I need the spline to glow on one side only, not both. Like say, a ring that glows on the outside or inside only. Is this possible and if so, how? I hope that there is s simple solution ;-) Thanks greatly in advance all!

I'm not exactly clear on what you're asking, but I'll take a shot at it. I'm assuming the spline is set to render in the view port. If that is the case, you may have to convert the spine to a Poly, then select the part of the spline you want to glow, and assign a material ID to just that part. I think that might do the trick. Here's a basic tutorial that shows the glow part:
