I'm an After Effects girl and have only basic knowledge of 3DS Max. I'm trying to use a model built in 3DS Max in Element 3D in After Effects. The primary difficulty here is how to create a JPG file for each and every texture used in the model in 3DS Max, so that the textures can be reapplied in After Effects to every separate surface. Since I'm dealing with a purchased model from Turbosquid, I only have access to the compiled 3DS Max file, and not to any texture files that were used within it.

The info in these links, though, addresses the part of the job that I'm already aware of. I do know that I would need to detach the different surfaces of the model in 3DS Max and apply different textures to them, in order for Element to recognize them as separate parts of the model, that can be textured individually. The problem I'm facing, however, is how to extract JPG files of the textures on the model from a .MAX scene file, so that I can apply these to the model after it has been imported into Element (like I said, I'm dealing with a pre-made, purchased model and I only have access to its .MAX format, and not to the standalone JPG files that were used to texture it).
The links in your post suppose that I already have these JPG files, whereas I'm looking for a way to extract them.
Have you tried picking the materials from the textured object in the material editor? It's not clear whether these materials are baked on to the model as a UVW map, or you just need to find the folder where the materials for each element live.
