News: LOOK Effects’ Work to Open Berlin Film Festival
LOOK Produced the Visual Effects for Wes Anderson’s Grand Budapest Hotel
(Los Angeles, California--November 6, 2013) LOOK Effects is proud to say that they produced the visual effects for the film that will open the 64th Berlin International Film Festival, Wes Anderson’s Grand Budapest Hotel. The film will premiere at the Berlinale Palast on February 6, 2014. Grand Budapest Hotel is the fifth film in which LOOK has collaborated with the brilliant director.
This latest film from the iconic director of Moonrise Kingdom, Grand Budapest Hotel features Ralph Fiennes as the concierge of an opulent European hotel involved in the theft and recovery of a priceless Renaissance painting. The film also stars Adrien Brody, Jude Law, Edward Norton and Tilda Swinton. Fox Searchlight Pictures will release the film in the US on March 7th and in European theaters from February through March.
The Grand Budapest Hotel is an American Empirical Pictures and Indian Paintbrush production and a co-production of Germany's Studio Babelsberg, which acted as the executive production company. Principal photography took place in Germany. Visual effects were produced by LOOK’s Stuttgart location. LOOK was instrumental in helping secure substantial funding for the film with a regional film-funding grant from Baden-Württemberg’s MFG.
LOOK has worked with Mr. Anderson on four previous films: Moonrise Kingdom, The Fantastic Mr. Fox, The Life Aquatic and The Darjeerling Limited.
“Grand Budapest Hotel was yet another opportunity for us to work with Wes,” says visual effects supervisor Gabriel Sanchez. “His unique vision and storytelling style make his films an exciting, creative challenge. We are proud that, once again, Wes asked us along for the ride and that our work is opening the Berlin Film Festival. We are so pleased for Wes.”
