Problem appling material in an extruded spline

Hello everyone!

So I have a big issue here. I created a spline, extruded it, then added a cap modifier to it. But when I apply a material this happens:



Also I receive a message from mentalray like "the following objects require map coordinates" and a list of the splines. I tried rendering with the scanline renderer and Brazil, but they showed the same issue.

I tried to apply an UVW Map modifier but that didn't solve the problem. So how can I fix this?

Try adding an EditPoly modifier in the modifier stack before you add the UVW Map modifier. This might help.

It may be worth checking all your normals are facing the same way.
The image you have posted could be the result of flipped/inside out faces.

Highlight them all and try 'unify' or select the dodgy ones individually and try 'flip'.
