I am new to 3ds Max and am having a problem that should probably be easy to solve. And I'm using 3ds max 2012.
I am attempting to composite a cube and a sphere into a scene.
I've imported the picture as a background, set it up as an environment. I've added a plane that lines up with the photo and added a matte/shadow material to it. I've created a cube and a sphere. I am using a sky light and a target spot to simulate lighting.
In the view port the shadows cast on the plane, and on the objects look great. But when I render, the plane disapears (like it should) but the shadows on it disapear aswell. Also the shadows on the objects disapear.
