Hi,

I'm using the 30 day trial of 3ds Max 2011 32bit and am in need of some help:

I have a model of a car which is visible in the viewports, however, when I look at it in the Rendered Frame Window and in the resulting rendered output I cannot see it. The alpha information is there, but the RGB shows as black (I'm guessing it's invisible).

Can anyone please point me to some settings I should check?

Many thanks!
Simon.

Sounds like you either have switched off "default lighting" or have lights which are switched off in the scene. (creating a light in Max automatically deactivates the default lighting even if the light gets switched off)

Another possibility is if you are using incorrectly set up exposure (imagine a real world camera is set up to take the perfect midday exterior photo on a sunny day and you go into a dim lit room to take a photo. It will come out very dark or black and max will operate the same way.
You can turn off Max exposure in the environment setting dialogue.
