uvmapping confusion

alright, so i have a pretty basic problem, but after lots of looking, i can't for the life of me figure out how to do this...

my goal, is to be able to take my model/mesh, and apply multiple uv maps to it. by this, i mean that i would like to have this object repeated, but essentially with different colors by creating upwards of five different uv maps in .png format that will be applied to the single mesh (in direct x format) in a videogame i'm working on.

the mesh in direct x format is being put into the same folder as the .png files (uv maps) and they should essentially change the color/look of each repeated mesh.

also, if anybody could help me out with how to not only accomplish that, but to use one of each of those uv maps to alter TWO meshes in direct x format, that would also be much appreciated. if it matters, i'm using 3ds 2010...
