In totally general terms, I would suggest taking a free camera (no target), and linking it to a dummy object which is a little bit below, and just a little bit in front of, your camera. Instead of animating your camera, animate the dummy object. It gives the effect of having your camera on a jib, and camera moves look much smoother.
Also bear in mind that you should always check your keyframes in the Curve Editor to make sure they are set to Smooth. Otherwise you will get some odd looking bumps and jogs in your animation. Use as few keyframes as possible to get the effect you want. Good luck!
