3ds Max Motion Blur

I keep having issues with motion blur in 3ds Max:
I render out with alpha channel, but when I bring it into AE the blur part of the motion blur is gray, not transparent, or semi-transparent like motion blur should be. I believe I'm rendering using the highest settings. Is this an issue for anyone else? Do I need to render out a separate Alpha matte to composite in AE or what. I've been using a matte filter in AE to fix it but it looks like crap!
Also, what's the deal with the weight of the motion blur? It makes the blur equal in both directions instead of being weighted to one side. I've messed with the "weight" in the camera settings but it really doesn't seem to be working well. Do I need V-ray or some other pluggin to get the best results?
I just want nice, clean motion blur.
