im very new to 3D but i want to pick it up so i would like to know what 3D program would be most user friendly or easier to understand that allows me to take an already made logo from photo shop and make it 3D so that it doesnt look flat?

Well, if you are mainly a 2D person, you may want to just get into Adobe AfterEffects and play around with ZaxWorks' InvigoratorPRO which enables you to easily extrude a flat vector graphic so it has thickness. Check out that plugin here:


Otherwise, you would probably be getting into too much if you chose 3DSMax just for logo work. Maya seems to be built specifically for the artistically inclined, but Max is an outgrowth of the AutoCAD world, so it's more "engineering" centric, but you can do some very creative and magnificent things with Max. It's really just the interface that is different.
