Hello all, just a question in regards to 3DS and FumeFX. Firstly I should point out that I have not used 3DS Max, but am ready and willing to learn. I caught onto After Effects fairly quickly, so I feel confident that I can take on the big 3D.
Anyway, I am wondering how to create a 3D rendering of fire (or related fire FX) to add into my footage. I imagine some motion tracking and 3D modeling is involved, but specifically what steps?
For instance, if I want to catch a hand on fire, do I need to just motion track the hand/footage, or do I have to create a hand model in 3DS to attach the fire to and then key out later? Or both?
Any help is appreciated,

I've had the same question, if anyone has any expertise on it..

I don't have FumeFX though, does anyone know of a way to make good looking fire in 3Ds without plugins?
