Hi all,

I have a client whose engineering staff uses CAD software for an automated delivery system, which sends material throughout a building to any of some 200 stations at the touch of a button.

We were thinking about "flying a camera" through the system to give a sense of its versatility. Is it possible that the CAD drawings could be turned into 3d models, saving a bit of money and time? If so, what sorts of CAD files should I request?

I always played in this field only. dealing with various CAD file formats.

Its basically which CAD software your client has?

If it is Autocad then, 3D dxf or dwg will be ok.....or I guess even 3DS if it is supported by A'cad.

but if different CAD software then mostly go for OBJ or STL as long as meshing inaccuracy doesn't matter for you.

there are advanced ways too! but u will confuse hereafter if not required!! :)
