3DS Max 2009: Placing objects on a conveyor belt

I just can't figure this out, any help I can get would be greatly appreciated.
Here's the project; I have a conveyor belt, a robot arm and an object. I want to have the robot arm pick up the object, move it to the conveyor belt and put it down. The conveyor belt will then rotate moving the object away.
Here's what I have done so far; I have the conveyor belt animated to rotate. I have a circle spline grouped to the conveyor so it's linked and will move with the conveyor (this is where I want to place the object later). I have the arm picking up the object (using 'Link Constrain' in the motion panel) and transfers it to the conveyor (or the circle spline on the conveyor).
Here's the problem; The object is linked to the circle and therefor stays with the circle when the robot arm moves away. But the object will not follow the circle when the conveyor starts moving. It stays in place as the circle moves away.
I know i'm missing something easy here. Is there any way to do this?
