I'm thinking about building/buying a new PC. I have around a $2500 budget. I want to maximize performance for Premiere, After Effects, and 3D Studio Max. Does anyone have any recommendations for Graphics Cards and other aspects of the build? Do dual graphics cards offer any benefits/drawbacks for working with these programs?
No answer is too basic. Any recommendations to improve or recommendations to buy a systems are greatly appreciated.
Right now this is how I'm leaning if I build.
Core 2 Quad Yorkfield 2.83GHz
ATI Radeon 4870x2 2x512
Asus Xonar DX Sound Card
Windows Vista Home Premium
OCZ Platinum Edition 4GB (2x2GB)

Fast graphics card makes a huge difference in max - particulalrly previewing animation and viewing large models. Look at the memory size on the graphics card.
For video editing I would say get lots of memory, its not that expensive. A faster hard disk might or might not help.
I recently bought from a company called 'CAD2'. They specialize in computers for the 3d industry. Amari and a few other companies also make 3d graphics computers for about that price.
It may be worth having a look at some FireGL or Quadro GFX cards as the specialised drivers can in some cases, make a lot of difference. I remember reading an article on this, though after a brief search, i cant seem to find it, though it was on a reliable source.
