I'm relatively new to 3DS MAX. I need to create a 'simple scene', part of a short film which consists of a room with grungy walls. These walls should be completely covered with photos as if they were hung on the wall. My question is: should the photos be included within the texture? At the moment I've got a big amount of planes and each one shows a different picture. This should be fine but I'm struggling to make them look 'real' as if they were stuck to the wall, mainly because of the shadows and how crisp the photo looks.
I thought of including the photos within the texture so I could put the shadows myself(photoshop). I tried this but when I get a close-up of the photo, the quality is quite bad(as I have to shrink it in order to look like photo on the wall). I don't seem to find a nice balance. Help!!!
