Hi, trying to do a quick render of a 3D model of a car which is supposed to be sitting in a parking lot.

Projecting the shadows on a plane I created and lined up with the picture, but now I want to render the shadows only, not the plane.

How can I turn off the visability of the plane but still get the shadows that are projected onto it in the render? So far, any attempt to remove the visability of the plane also removes the shadows from the render.

Please help!

give your plane a matte/shadow material. Check "receive shadow".
Depending on what you need, check or uncheck "affect alpha".
Define the "shadow brightness" which is the amount of transparency you want for the shadow (0 completely opaque).

if you want the car to create a shadow while invisible : applied a matte shadow and uncheck "receive shadow"
