From 3ds max on a PC to Combustion on a Mac

Can someone please help me? I'm trying to export a file from 3ds max on a PC and move it to Combustion on a Mac. I want to put it into Combustion with a transparent background, and I would like to animate it within 3D space in Combustion. I have no idea what to save it as in 3ds max. I've tried saving as all the file options, and nothing seems to work. Any help with this would be greatly appreciated.

you have to render the desired images (if it has a default black background inside of 3ds max, this is the transparent part) and save them in a file format that supports an alpha channel (like PNG or Tif - mind that you have to check the box "store alpha channel").
Then just open the image up in combustion and voil
