Hello,

I was wondering if anyone has had any experience importing architectural point cloud data into MAX. I am working with a surveying firm who is providing me with a very dense laser scanned point cloud data they have turned into a mesh. They are using software called Cyclone [from Leica Geosystems], and can import their data to AutoCad, so we have a few export options [but not alot that are compatible with MAX]. We've tried DXF [binary] files, and a point cloud decimated down to 50MB [from 3GIG] will import into max and save out as a 900MB MAX file, making the system lock up and become unusable. I've successfully got a point cloud decimated down to a 19MB DXF file to open, but lost to much detail it becomes unusable.

There has got to be a better system / format for importing this data, and would love to get some ideas from a MAX user who has some experience with this type of import.
