I have a simple box in 3ds... Ive set up a material that simulates plexi-glass.
I want to have an image (text) on a single face of that box.
I am having trouble setting up the alpha chennels for the image so that itll just show the black silouhettes/letters as if they were painted of stuck on to the glass.
This may be as simple as a filetype usage.
I do know how to assign the map to a single face, I just dont know how to preserve the transparency of the box while mapping the image in the diffuse channel.
You need to use material IDs and opactiy map. Create your plexiglass material as a multi sub object material in channel 1, then copy it to channel 2. Now assign your text as an opacity map in Channel 2. Set the whole box except the top face as ID 1 and then use 2 as the face. Apply a local UVW Map to the front face.
Alternatively, create the text as an editable poly, assign a 2 sided black material and place it on top of the box. That would be the easiest way.
