Illustrator paths to 3dsmax splines

Is there a way I could import illustrator paths in to splines in 3dsmax? I'm trying to use the path deform function in 3dsmax and I find it very difficult editing splines in 3dsmax. Is there a way I could just bring it from illustrator?
