Hi guys,

We're upconverting a series of logo animations originally set up for Standard Definition video (720*486, NTSC 4:3), to High Definition (1920*1080, NTSC 16:9). We got the original 3ds max files, and have to re-render now.

No problem so far. Now, if I go and change my render resolution from 720*486 to 1920*1080, 3dsmax just crops the image top and bottom. Understandable because it is going from 4:3 to 16:9.

Now my question: is there a way to tell max to NOT crop the top and bottom, but instead "add" real estate to the sides of the screen? I tried changing the camera lenses, but that will affect perspective, and I don't want that.

TO clarify my question:

Image hosting by Photobucket

Any idea is welcome!
