I am learning 3d studio max at school and really enjoy it. I do some compositing and really want to become a compositor and or editor. My whole problem is that I work on macs at home, at school (except the max lab) and at work. Im sure this has been asked but will there ever be a version for the mac. Why don't they have one for it yet. Isnt this giving maya a bigger selling advantage? Thanks for the responses in advance
Its about supply and demand and development. Max is heavily tied to the Windows platform and Microsoft VC++. Also, I would see a Linux version of Max long before a Mac version. It is marketed as a tool for game and film production, but how many game studios produce content on a Mac? Also, the film market is heavily Windows and Linux based, expect for small boutiques that use Macs. Also, Autodesk could careless about Mayas market share now that they own both Maya and Max. My suggestion would be to not hold your breathe for Max on a Mac.
