on Aug 12, 2005 at 9:09:08 pm

Hello everybody, I was wanting to purchase some good 3d Studio Max
Training DVD's I was wondering what the best ones are and where
I can find them. Anyone know any good sites to look at for them.
I am looking for dvd's that cover all aspects of the program from
beginner to advanced level. I am willing to pay any price. thanks

Any price huh?

Well there are a lot of dvd's out their and like most things, you do get what you pay for.

Technical animations are ok - i used a v4 dvd set way back but for what i paid felt it was a tad lacking. THis may have changed with their v7 dvd set.

Lynda (http://www.lynda.com) are the pick for me and have training cd's from begginer to advanced animation, lighting, character modeling and rigging. THe good thing is you just buy the cd thats right for you.

DOnt forget Discreet have a lot of training recources on their website, some of which are free.

Hope this helps

I agree with Pablo here and some of his suggestions. Autodesk (Discreet) has some great tutorials and training available.

If you are looking for "cost effective" solutions, then you gotta check out Jason Busby over at:
http://www.3dbuzz.com/ - him and his team provide some really great tutorials for all sorts of proggy's. It's been a while but I think they still offer their Video Training on CD or perhaps DVD now. Best of all - Free!!!

Here is by far my favorite tutor though (I have many others in mind but this one has a very nice DVD series), and to boot, the young fellow is actually pretty cool. He may target some of the more advanced users of 3DS Max with Particle effects, but if you have a good understanding of the Max environment and want to just jump right in then his series of DVD's are just the right choice.

http://www.allanmckay.com/ - check out his products page from the left menu

For more info or other great "tutors" like Allan, you can check out:

The prices are not half bad either (IMHO) of course :>)

Enjoy and good luck,

hey guys, awesome links, I appreciate your help on this subject. I
looked at the Discreet training, I think I might go with them, they
seem to have the most broadest view of the entire program which
is what I am looking for. But the others were great too,
thanks again guys.
