I have tried and tried but either get barely viewable water which looks like little highlights here and their. Or I get Overly reflective water. I have tried brazil but it seems to take much longer and give me worse reults than using a raytrace. Please someone tell me how to get these results in 3dsmax 7.

Thanks for your time

Could you post a pic or something. That link doesn't seem to work for me. Thanks ...

Colin

I'm not sure how they got this render out, but I'll take a wild guess.

a. The artists may have used an HDRI environment map to create the reflections, highlights, etc. In addition, they may have included an alpha channel for all the objects in the scene, then used a compositing app to knock out the environment with solid black. This may be too complicated.

b. The artists applied a texture to the water object that reflected some light emitting from a carefully positioned spotlight.

I was just wondering if you ever figured out how to do this. I think they may have used Realflow and maya.

Thanks
