Hi All,

Just wondering what would be the closest thing to this preset? Unfortunately, Motion 4 doesn't offer any Prores presets.

Thanks,

John

[John Vogel] "Motion 4 doesn't offer any Prores presets."

Huh? Sure it does. The default is in fact ProRes 4444. You simply change it in the export window.

When I open Motion 4 it says "select a present here". The default is set at NTSC Broadcast SD. When I select the drop down, there is nothing that is Prores. I see DVCPRO HD, HDV, EXCAM and some other misc presets.

The presets are irrelevant to the export. The presets merely define the resolution, aspect ratio etc. The output format is decided on upon export of the finished project. This ain't FCP. ;)

LOL, All these years of using that program as a hack and thought it operated under the same parameters.

Does the same hold true if I'm looking to embed my motion file in my time line?

Sorry for the amateur questions. I know just enough to get me in trouble.

[John Vogel] "Does the same hold true if I'm looking to embed my motion file in my time line?"

If you mean as in placing a Motion template into your FCP X timeline via one of the respective Title, Generator, FX etc. browsers, then, no. A raw Motion file is completely compression agnostic. It will then render in whatever codec your FCP timeline is set to. If you render it out of Motion, it would of course be smart to render it in the format that the timeline is in, to avoid re-rendering (which by default is ProRes 422 in FCP X).
