Using Mask to Expose Graphic

Hi there,

I am trying to achieve something and was hoping the experts could give me a hand.

I have a winding tube that I want to make look like it is filling up with water. My first instinct was to use a shape mask to expose this area over time, but because it is winding the shape moves on and off the area as I move it.

Is there a way to create a line that is set to expose the area as it moves across it?

Or is there an alternative I am missing?

Thank you!

-Zack

Sounds like something you could do with keying a specific color or drawing a bezier mask perhaps.
