How to Make a Group Be Unaffected by Camera Animation

Is there a way to "lock" a group or object so that it doesn't appear to move when you animate a camera?

I'm trying to move a camera along/through a map of US (rotated on its X axis) (pic below) and put a night sky graphic in the background. The stars wouldn't move in real life, so I'd like to make them remain static if possible. Is there a way to do this?

Thanks,

Dave

But the "Static" elements in a group. Make the group 2D. Make sure the "static" group is below all of the other groups and it will not move with the camera. Best of luck.

Hey Stephen, since this is related, I'm going to keep it in the same thread.

Are image masks independent of camera animation? I've masked a clip to fit on a shape, but when the camera moves, the mask remains at the same point on the screen. (Essentially moving "with" the camera instead of staying over the clip it's masking.)

Any way to fix this?

Thanks in advance!

FWIW, I masked it with an oval shape (that matches the shape of the object I'm trying to make the video clip fit to) and then tried doing a match move on the shape (using the video clip as the source.) Bad things happen. The shape disappears when I turn on the match move. Weird.

Make sure the Image Mask and Mask Source is in the 2D group and it will not animate with the camera.

Well, I was having the opposite problem--the mask was remaining static when I needed it to animate with the clip it was masking--but I figured out how to do it by using a shape as the mask. Thanks, man! I really appreciate that you take the time to answer questions.
