Hi there,
I have a (random) problem with appearance of graphics in my Motion movie.
It looks like my (Illustrator) graphics disappear in 3D space, but I'm not using a camera nor a 3D space.
Z-values are all zero.

I posted this problem before, but still no luck...

When I play around with the Z-value I can get the graphics visible, but when I re-open the Motion project the graphics are (partially) invisible again...
I don't get it...

Anyone?

Thanks!!
Martin

See example:

I can also send you a part of the Motion 5 movie itself.

I'm using Motion 5 in Lion (but the 'bug' was also under OSX 10.6.8 in Motion 5)

I'd probably just make the project 3D and just go with it. Motion does...weird things sometimes.

Hey Martijn,

Sorry, it took so long but I finally got around to looking at this one today. I was able to get your problem graphics working by saving them as pdf.

Thanks!!

It works partially... I've heard Motion is having 'problems' with ai files, unchecking 'fixed resolution' also helps.

As far as I know, Motion doesn't support Illustrator files. Illustrator isn't on the list of supported formats in the docs, but pdf is. I've always just use pdf.

Motion absolutely supports Illustrator files.

But in my case not very well...
Unchecking fixed resolution or importing PDF's did a better job...

To import an illustrator file do the following: In Illustrator, save it as an Illustrator Document, make sure Create PDF Compatible File is checked. Import the file into Motion. Open up the Project Pane. Click on the Media Tab. Select the file. Uncheck Fixed Resolution and you should be golden. I only uncheck the Fixed Resolution check box when I'm done because once you do that Motion chugs. I don't have a problem working with a crappy looking AI image in Motion until I'm ready to export. Hope this helps.
