Best way to create this animation in Motion 4?

Hi, I am working on a project where I want to replace the video screen in a short clip where the subject clicks a few times and the pc screen is replaced with photos that i have. below is a mockup. What's the best way to go about this? I think cutting out 4 seconds of frames in Photoshop is not the answer :) thx!!!

Was this already shot? Can you put a green screen in? How much hand movement will be over the pics you want to ad?

Welcome to the wonderful world of rotoscoping. You need to animate a mask over his hand each time it crosses over the screen. Still tedious, but compared to Photoshop, you can at least let Motion help you with the inbetween animations.

Still probably take a while.

Thx all for the help. Rotoscoping...hmmm, always wanted to learn how to do that! Here is a mockup just using 3 edited frames in PS, and then animated in Motion (albiet badly):

But I would like something that looks more natural. Do I use AE to do the rotoscoping? I think I saw a filter in there for that...any good pointers? thx!!!

Rotoscoping can be done in Motion. It's essentially the same technique you use in photoshop. Take the bezier mask tool (OPT+B) and click around the hand to mask it out. Then, turn on the record keyframes button and advance to the next frame in your video, and move the keyframes so that the hand stays masked out.

It's more involved than I'm making it sound, but hopefully you'll get the idea.

Instead of moving the control points every few frames you can let Motion do it for you. This is covered in my Creative COW Apple Motion Training DVD. I have a sample of what I'm talking about at the end of my kinetic typography video tutorial.
